The Indiana Supreme Court has certified 60 judicial officers as senior judges for the coming year.

In an order down Monday, the high court re-certified 56 senior judges to retain their senior judge status through Dec. 31, 2018. The 56 senior judges – including former Justice Robert Rucker, who took senior status with the Indiana Court of Appeals after his retirement from the Indiana Supreme Court last May – each met the qualifications for recertification under Indiana Code section 33-27-4-1, according to the Monday order.

Additionally, three trial court judges and a trial court magistrate received initial certification as senior judges, effective Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2018. The judges, who were found to be qualified for senior status under I.C. 33-23-3-2, include:

  • Tippecanoe Circuit Judge Thomas H. Busch
  • Allen Superior Judge Daniel G. Heath
  • Former Crawford Circuit Judge Kenneth L. Lopp
  • Marion Superior Magistrate Judge Victoria M. Ransberger
