Magistrate Judge Mark J. Dinsmore’s term is set to expire Dec. 16, and the court is required by law to establish a citizen panel to consider whether he should be reappointed at the end of that term. The panel is seeking comments on Dinsmore’s reappointment from members of the bench and bar.
As magistrate, Dinsmore’s duties include conducting:
• Most preliminary proceedings in criminal cases;
• Trial and disposition of misdemeanor cases;
• Various pretrial matters and evidentiary proceedings on delegation from district court judges, and;
• Trial and disposition of civil cases with litigant consent.
