The Evansville Courier & Press reports Vanderburgh Circuit Court Judge David Kiely on Wednesday approved the venue change for 38-year-old Earl Martin. Under Indiana law, defendants can request their cases be moved to a different county if they believe they cannot receive a fair trial in the county where charges were filed.
Martin is charged with murder and obstruction of justice in the December death and dismemberment of 41-year-old Erica Bradfield. He's also charged in the December shooting death of 20-year-old Christopher Hoefling in which another man was wounded.
Attorneys will meet with Kiely on April 23 to discuss possible new venues.
