Marion Superior Judge Marilyn Moores is returning to the bench this month after temporarily stepping down to recover from a horse riding accident.

Magistrate Judge Gary K. Chavers was appointed judge pro tempore in the Marion Superior Court, juvenile division, in March after Moores broke her leg while riding a horse. The injury required Moore – an avid horseback rider – to undergo three surgeries and three months of rehabilitation.

But the Indiana Supreme Court announced Monday that Moores will be able to resume her duties on June 18. That means Chavers’ term as judge pro tempore will expire on June 17.
