The nominations for IndyBar’s 2019 Board of Directors are open, and it’s up to you to help determine the future of your local bar association. Several positions, noted below, will be available in 2019, and you’ve got one last chance to apply!
Interested? Complete the nomination form, found at indybar.org/board, by August 3. Self-nominations are encouraged, as well as nominations of colleagues. Even if you aren’t selected for the board, every effort will be made to find another rewarding volunteer position for you within the IndyBar.
The following vacancies exist for the coming year and must be filled by an attorney member:
• 1st Vice President (serves one-year term and will automatically assume the office of President Elect in 2020)
• Secretary (two-year term, 2019 and 2020)
• At-Large Member (five positions, each two-year terms, 2019 and 2020)
• ABA Delegate (two-year term, 2019 and 2020)
IndyBar Past President Michael J. Hebenstreit of Whitham Hebenstreit & Zubek LLP has been appointed to chair the Nominating Committee, which will select a slate of nominees that reflects our geographic, ethnic, minority, gender and practice area diversity.
The 2019 IndyBar Board of Directors will be led by Thomas Barnard of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP. Andrew Campbell, Faegre Baker Daniels LLP, will assume the role of President Elect.
IndyBar members wishing to seek election outside the nominating process may file a petition ballot which is now available at the bar office. To be valid, the petition must be filed by August 3 and must contain the signatures of at least 50 attorney members of the Indianapolis Bar Association.•
