Nominations should recognize specific judicial programs, projects or efforts designed to inform and educate the public about the judiciary. A summary of reasons why the nominee should be selected must be included, as well as either a hyperlink to a news report or a copy of any relevant supporting information and documents.
Past award efforts have included community forums on civil liberties, an “MTv Juvies” television series about juvenile court, a high school educational video detailing the consequences of drunk driving, a weekly newspaper column about the courts and “Adopt-a-Doll” community outreach events.
The committee is also accepting nominations for the Media Award, which will recognize one newspaper, television or radio reporter for responsible reporting on issues related to the Indiana judiciary. Nominations can be submitted online and are due by 4 p.m. on Aug. 14.
