The Times reported Thursday that unnamed sources with knowledge of the investigation said William “Bill” Landske, 83, was arrested on allegations that he fatally shot longtime lawyer and Senior Judge T. Edward Page at the attorney’s Hobart home. Landske is the widower of former state Sen. Sue Landske, who died in 2015 at 77. Sue Landske, R-Crown Point, served in the Indiana Senate from 1984-2014, rising through the leadership to assistant president pro tem in her final term.
The Times reported Page had been a longtime family friend who had served as counsel for both the Landskes. Page, an attorney at Thiros & Thiros in Merrillville, also worked as a Lake County public defender for the past 10 years. Chief public defender Marce Gonzalez Jr. said Page on Tuesday submitted a letter of retirement that was effective at the end of the month.
Page also served as a senior judge, having served as a Lake Superior magistrate judge from 1984-2000, according to the Times. The newspaper reported that authorities are expected to announce formal charges in Page’s killing Friday.
