The Post-Tribune reported a federal jury on Wednesday convicted Monique Bowling-Boyd of Merrillville, who once was Gary’s head of information technology services.
Defense attorney Jeffrey Schlesinger, who didn’t call any witnesses at the trial in the Northern District of Indiana, Hammond Division, said he didn’t think prosecutors had met their burden of proof.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Gary Bell described Bowling-Boyd as a “big time thief.” He says she had Apple iPads and other electronics sent to her office, another city building and her home. In all, Bell says Bowling-Boyd is believed to have ordered more than $1 million worth of computer equipment.
