On March 1, the Indianapolis Bar Foundation (IBF) will begin accepting applications for its Impact Fund Grant: a cash grant of $35,000 to support a local nonprofit’s program to improve access to justice for Indianapolis-area residents.
For any nonprofit organization, a $35,000 grant could be a game-changer. That is why each year since 2011, the IBF has received scores of proposals vying for not only the Foundation’s largest single grant but also the support of the IndyBar’s network of pro bono volunteers.
“The Impact Fund was founded to do just what its name implies,” said IBF President Mark Waterfill, “create a lasting impact by putting financial resources and our incredible volunteer network behind an innovative idea that supports the IBF’s mission. It’s a win all around.”
In prior years, the Impact Fund Grant has been awarded to organizations supporting a wide range of programs focused on advancing the administration of justice. From assisting families caring for disabled loved ones and tackling literacy issues within the criminal justice system to helping low-income residents avoid eviction and encouraging safer, happier elementary schools, these programs represent the best ideas from a competitive field of applicants.
To celebrate the Impact Fund’s ninth year, the IBF is looking for more applications than ever.
“We’re hoping for a great turnout,” said IBF Impact Fund Chair Elisabeth Edwards. “We know there are organizations that could do great things with these funds. We just need them to apply because the more applications we receive, the greater chance we have of maximizing the grant’s impact.”
In addition to the Impact Fund, the IBF raises over $100,000 each year to support the Indianapolis Bar Association’s pro bono and community service initiatives.
The Impact Fund Grant application and additional information can be found at indybar.org/ibf. Applications will be accepted through May 31 with the recipient named in July.•
