Connor W. Scott entered the pleas Monday in Clark County court. The 24-year-old requested a jury trial, which a judge set for May 14. Scott is accused of killing 20-year-old Kaylyn Whitaker of Terre Haute at Scott’s then-home in Martinsville, Illinois, on Oct. 31, 2014. Scott is jailed on $1 million bond.
Police in Danville, Indiana, said Scott walked into the police station Feb. 24 and confessed to killing Whitaker. He was sent to Clark County in Illinois, where he appeared in court Monday after prosecutors filed two counts of first-degree murder against him last week.
Scott is represented by public defender William McGrath, who declined comment after Monday’s hearing.
