Subscribe NowThe Lake County Judicial Nominating Commission is seeking public comment on nearly a dozen candidates who have applied to fill an upcoming vacancy in Lake Superior Court. The commission will interview the candidates next month.
The vacancy will occur this month when Judge William E. Davis retires from his as Lake Superior Civil Division 5 judge.
The commission now invites public comment on the individuals who have applied to fill the vacancy.
Applicants for the position will be interviewed in the following order, beginning at 8:40 a.m. CDT May 8: Carly A. Brandenburg, Merrillville Town Court Judge Gina L. Jones, Stacy J. Vasilak, Angela M. Jones, Lake Superior Court Magistrate Judge Michael N. Pagano, Andrew L. Kraemer, Frank R.P. Martinez, III, William Anthony Walker, Gary City Court Judge Deidre L. Monroe, and Lake Circuit magistrate judges Stephen E. Scheele and Lisa A. Berdine.
Interviews will take place in the hearing room of the Lake County Board of Commissioners, located on the third floor of Building A of the Lake County Government Center, 2293 N. Main St., Crown Point.
The interviews as well as the deliberations of the commission are open to the public. Comments on the applicants must be submitted via email to [email protected] by noon CDT on April 22.
After the interviews are complete, the commission, chaired by Indiana Supreme Court Justice Geoffrey Slaughter, will send the names of three finalists to Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb. The governor will then have 60 days to select the next judge from the three candidates.
