Indiana State Police say investigators suspect foul play in the death of an inmate at the Miami Correctional Facility near Bunker Hill.

Police say prison staff found 70-year-old Lannie Morgan of South Bend unresponsive in his cell about 9:40 a.m. Monday. An ambulance was summoned for Morgan, but he died before reaching a local hospital.

Police are treating the death as a homicide. An autopsy has been conducted and results are pending.

Morgan had been incarcerated within the Indiana Department of Correction since December 2011. According to IDOC offender data, Morgan was convicted in Elkhart Superior Court of felony counts of child molesting and incest and had been serving at least 47 years.

The Miami Correctional Facility is about 60 miles north of Indianapolis.
