Applications opened to fill the senior-level management post on Monday.
The clerk’s office consists of 49 employees in four offices and supports 14 judges. In the position, the chief deputy clerk (Type II) would assume the duties and responsibilities of the clerk of court in the clerk’s absence.
They would also, under the direction of the clerk of court, be responsible for the daily supervision and administration of the clerk’s office, administrative staff, managing special projects and assignments as needed, and helping to develop court-wide policies.
The Northern District has three divisions including South Bend, Fort Wayne and Hammond, the latter of which has offices in both Hammond and Lafayette. As such, the position may be located in the Hammond or South Bend division. Periodic travel to all divisions on a regular basis is a requirement of the position.
Candidates must have a minimum of six years of progressively responsible administrative, supervisory, technical, professional, or managerial experience with at least three of those six years having been in a position with substantial management responsibility, among other things.
