Applications are now open for a vacant judge position on the Allen Superior Court.

Judge David Avery will leave the spot open when he retires on Dec. 13.

Applications must be submitted through the Indiana Courts Portal by Aug. 28 at noon.

To be eligible for the role, applicants must be a resident of Allen County and be an attorney admitted to the bar of Indiana for at least five years.

Candidates cannot have a previous felony conviction or any disciplinary sanction imposed on them by the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission or a similar body in a different state.

The Allen County Judicial Nominating Commission will meet on Sept. 25 to interview candidates. Details on the public interviews will be online.

After the interviews, the commission will publicly vote to select three nominees to send to Governor Eric Holcomb for appointment.
