Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb announced the appointments Friday.
Blaiklock emigrated to the U.S. from England in 1978 and became a U.S. citizen in 1991.
He received his undergraduate degree from Hanover College, then earned his J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. According to the Indiana Roll of Attorneys, he was admitted to the state’s bar in 1997.
Before attending law school, Blaiklock was a juvenile probation officer in Marion County. After law school, he was an associate at Ice Miller until 2001, when he joined Lewis Wagner.
Kern is currently a magistrate judge in the Family Division of the Marion Superior Court.
She received her undergraduate degree from Indiana University and her J.D. from IU McKinney. According to the Indiana Roll of Attorneys, she was admitted to the Indiana bar in 1998.
After law school, Kern joined the Marion County Public Defender Agency for three years. When she transitioned into private practice, she continued taking public defender felony cases on a part-time basis.
For a decade, she has organized a biannual Mediation Day for paternity cases at no-to-low cost for the involved parents.
Both Blaiklock and Kern will be sworn in as judges on a date to be determined.
