U.S. District Judge Gretchen Lund sentenced Adam Lee Taylor, 45, of Crown Point in March to 135 months in prison, five years of supervised release, and ordered him to pay $6,000 in monetary assessments that support services for victims of human trafficking and child sexual abuse, according to a U.S. Department of Justice release.
According to documents in the case, in November 2022, Taylor distributed a series of videos containing child sexual abuse material to members of a group chat on an encrypted messaging platform.
Federal agents subsequently executed a search warrant at Taylor’s residence and discovered additional materials in Taylor’s possession.
In his plea agreement, Taylor acknowledged that he knowingly distributed at least six videos to the members of a group message using an online messaging application, with at least four of the videos depicting minor children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Indiana State Police Digital Forensics Unit.
It was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, launched in May 2006 by the DOJ.
The case is United States of America v. Adam Lee Taylor, 2:24CR012-001.
