Five judges and three attorneys have applied for two upcoming vacancies on the Indiana Court of Appeals.

Judge Patricia Riley is retiring in August and Judge Terry Crone is retiring later this fall. The Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission will consider applications for both vacancies.

The applicants are:

  • Judge Mary A. DeBoer, Valparaiso
  • Wendy W. Davis, Fort Wayne
  • Judge Gina L. Jones, Crown Point
  • Anna Mandula, Crown Point
  • Judge Jaime M. Oss, LaPorte
  • Judge Stephen E. Scheele, Schererville
  • Judge Stephanie E. Steele, Granger
  • A. Elizabeth Underwood, Fort Wayne

Riley and Crone represent the third appellate district, and applicants to succeed them must live in one of the  20 northern Indiana counties that comprise that district.

The nominating commission is expected to interview the candidates on June 24-25 and July 22-23. After deliberating in executive session, the commission will publicly vote to send the three most qualified names for each vacancy to Gov. Eric Holcomb. Holcomb will have 60 days to select Indiana’s next appellate judges from those nominees.
