Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP is celebrating a new partner rejoining the firm at its Indianapolis office.

Peter Meyer joins the firm’s product liability and mass torts group. Meyer comes from Exactech, a surgical support company, where he served as Associate General Counsel.

Meyer defends clients across the country in high-stakes litigation and mass torts, specializing in medical product defense.

“Peter is highly experienced in the medical device space,” said Amy Fiterman, product liability and mass torts group leader. “His in-house experience has broadened his approach to the defense of mass torts and we’re excited to have him back at the firm.”

As national and co-lead defense counsel with MDLs, Meyer achieved success for the world’s leading medical device companies, and spearheaded efforts in every area of litigation.

He also develops and leads strategic settlement plans to prevent efforts to build mass torts and limit client expense and exposure.

“We are thrilled to welcome Peter back to Faegre Drinker,” said Indianapolis office leader Brian Garrison. “Our product liability team protects leading manufacturers in Indiana and Peter’s background is the perfect fit for this team.”

“Working as in-house counsel for the past two years gave me access to every corner of the business and allowed me to broaden my skill set,” said Meyer. “As I return to Faegre Drinker, my goal is to anticipate more comprehensively how the strategies we undertake for our clients will impact their business and to be able to speak the language of our non-lawyer clients more fluently. I’m excited to bring my experience to the firm as we work to grow our product liability practice in Indianapolis.”

Faegre Drinker also added two laterals to the firm. Lacey Berkshire and Maddie Augustus join the firm’s state government relations and advocacy team.

To the firm, Berkshire brings experience advocating for clients in front of the Indiana General Assembly and executive branch agencies. Along with guiding corporations and businesses through governmental processes and procedures, Berkshire also advises companies on public sector procurement and growth strategies.

“The world of government affairs is always shifting, and I’m confident that our team will provide excellent service and advocacy for our clients at the Statehouse,” said Berkshire. “It’s an exciting time as we prepare for the next legislative session, and I’m eager to get to work with the Faegre Drinker team.”

Augustus joins the team as a registered lobbyist with experience collaborating with both corporation and nonprofit clients. Her experience includes legislative branch lobbying, executive branch consulting and procurement strategies.

“I’m thrilled to join a firm with a well-established government relations team like Faegre Drinker’s, who have led the way turning complex policy proposals into tangible results,” said Augustus. “I look forward to working with my colleagues, stakeholders and policymakers to deliver wins for our clients.”
