Fee increases took effect today in both the Indiana Northern and Southern District courts.
In a notice posted on the Southern District website, the court noted that at its March and September sessions, on the recommendation of the Committee on Court Administration and Case Management, the Judicial Conference approved inflationary adjustments to fees on the appellate, district and bankruptcy court miscellaneous fee schedules, as well as on the Court of Federal Claims and the Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation miscellaneous fee schedules.
The fee of filing a civil action, suit or proceeding will rise from $402 to $405, while filing a notice of appeal will increase from $505 to $605.
Filing any document that is not related to a pending case or proceeding will jump from $49 to $52.
In the Northern District, the court noted that the last time miscellaneous fees were adjusted for inflation was in December 2020.
Fee increases listed on the Northern District website include record searches increasing from $32 to $34, attorney admission fees rising from $188 to $199, and administrative fees for filing civil actions, suits or proceedings in a district court going from $52 to $55.
Also, retrieval of one box of records from a federal records center, National Archives or storage location removed from the place of business of the court will increase from $64 to $70.
