The Lake County Judicial Nominating Commission will be interviewing five applicants next week to fill a vacancy in the county’s trial court civil division.

The vacancy came after Indiana Court of Appeals Judge Stephen Scheele was appointed to the appellate bench by Gov. Eric Holcomb in December.

The public interviews will be Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. CST at the Lake County Board of Commissioners,  Third Floor of Building A, Lake County Government Center, 2293 N. Main Street, Crown Point, IN 46307.

The schedule is as follows:

11:05 a.m.-11:20 a.m.: Lake Superior Court Magistrate Shuan Olsen

11:20 a.m.-11:35 a.m.: Indiana Board of Tax Review Administrative Law Judge Natasha Ivancevich

11:35 a.m.-11:50 a.m.: Lake Circuit Court Referee Daniel Burke Jr.

11:50 a.m.-12:05 p.m.: The Law Office of Angela M. Jones LLC Founding Attorney Angela Marie Jones

12:05 p.m.-12:20 p.m.: Lake Superior Court Magistrate Katherine Garza

After the interviews are concluded, the commission will publicly deliberate to consider applications.

The commission considers applicants’ legal education, writings, public service, and reputation in the practice of law.

Following deliberations, the commission will publicly vote on the candidates they will provide for Gov. Mike Braun to appoint.
