A Fort Wayne woman has been appointed to the Indiana Judicial Nominating Commission for a three-year term, Gov. Eric Holcomb has announced.
Nancy Stewart, a nonlawyer, has been appointed to serve on the JNC, representing appellate District 3 until Dec. 31, 2026. She succeeds Brian Bauer, a Columbia City resident and also a nonlawyer, in representing District 3.
Bauer’s term expires Dec. 31.
The JNC is tasked with interviewing candidates for Indiana appellate court vacancies. It consists of seven members: three nonlawyers appointed by the governor, three attorneys elected by other lawyers and the Indiana chief justice.
When her term begins, Stewart will join Indiana Chief Justice Loretta Rush, attorneys Anthony Patterson, Lee Christie and Daniel Vinovich, and nonattorneys Danny Lopez and Molly Kitchell on the JNC.
Rush is the chair of the commission.
Vinovich, a partner with Hilbrich Law Firm in Highland, was elected to replace Holly Wojcik on the JNC. Wojcik’s term also expires Dec. 31.
