Applications are now being accepted to fill the vacancy on the Johnson County Superior Court 3 bench that was created when Judge Lance Hamner recently resigned to run for prosecutor.

The Office of Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb has announced it is taking applications and will make the appointment to the Johnson County court. Qualified applicants should complete and submit a judicial application no later than 5 p.m. on March 11.

Hamner resigned from the bench to enter the Republican primary race for Johnson County prosecutor, according to the Daily Journal. He served as the prosecutor in that county from 1991 to 2008, leaving the position when he was elected to the bench.

The Indiana Supreme Court has appointed Senior Judge Jeffrey C. Eggers to fill in a judge pro tempore.
