Cass County Prosecutor Lisa L. Swaim has been appointed to the Indiana trial court bench, Gov. Eric Holcomb announced Wednesday, naming her to succeed the late Cass Superior Judge Richard A. Maughmer.

Swaim, a Ball State University graduate who earned her law degree from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 1995, has been with the prosecutor’s office in Logansport since 2001 and has served as the elected prosecutor in the county of about 38,000 since 2015. Prior to her time in the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office, she served as a deputy prosecutor in Marion County.

Swaim will be sworn in at a later date, according to Holcomb’s announcement. She succeeds Maughmer, 65, who died in September as a result of an accident at his home.

Maughmer had been the only judge to serve in Cass Superior Court 2 after the court was established in 2001.
