A senior judge has resigned from his appointment as a temporary judge in Hancock County after a month on the job.

Last month, Judge Donald J. Davis of Hancock Superior Court 1 notified the Indiana Supreme Court that he would be unavailable to fulfill his duties due to “ongoing health concerns.” Pursuant to Indiana Trial Rule 63, the Supreme Court on July 11 appointed Senior Judge Jeffrey C. Eggers as judge pro tem in that court, with his duties to officially begin July 19.

Eggers was set to remain judge pro tem for 90 days, with the caveat of his appointment potentially being extended upon request.

However, justices in a Thursday order announced that Eggers had notified the Supreme Court that he would be resigning his duties as a pro tem judge effective at the end of the day on Aug. 23.

Thus, the high court has revoked Eggers’ appointment as a judge pro tem in the Hancock Superior Court in In the Matter of the Appointment of a Judge Pro Tempore in the Hancock County Superior Court 1, 22S-MS-232.
