The Indiana Family and Social Services Administration’s Division of Mental Health and Addiction is partnering with Shatterproof, a national not-for-profit specializing in addiction recovery, to launch the program called Treatment Atlas.
Treatment Atlas is an online platform that, through an interactive dashboard, provides assistance searching for and comparing addiction treatment centers based on location, services offered, populations served and insurance accepted. Users can take an anonymous, 10-question assessment to be matched with treatment appropriate for their needs.
The dashboard includes information about all 605 addiction treatment facilities certified by the FSSA’s Division of Mental Health and Addiction.
“Hoosiers with substance use disorder deserve timely access to quality care as soon as they’re ready to accept help,” Gov. Eric Holcomb said in a news release. “Treatment Atlas puts recovery within immediate reach, giving Hoosiers and their loved ones a trusted resource to find evidence-based, high-quality treatment that meets their unique needs, anywhere in the state.”
Indiana is one of 13 states partnering with Shatterproof. The Treatment Atlas program will replace the state’s former addiction treatment locator. State officials say Treatment Atlas brings a new level of transparency to Hoosiers’ search for addiction treatment services.
“We can have all the parts and pieces of an expansive recovery infrastructure, but people need to know how to access them,” said Douglas Huntsinger, Indiana’s executive director for drug prevention, treatment and enforcement. “Indiana is proud to bring this national solution to Hoosiers.”
Officials across the state, from law enforcement to peer recovery coaches, have been trained in how to use the new resource. The platform can be reached directly at TreatmentAtlas.org. An FAQ page on how to use the Treatment Atlas dashboard is available at treatmentatlas.org/faqs.
Additional assistance finding local addiction treatment resources can be found by calling 211. The FSSA still makes information about recovery housing available on its website at www.in.gov/fssa/addiction.
Anyone experiencing thoughts of suicide or a mental health or substance abuse crisis is encouraged to call or text 988 to connect with a trained specialist.
