More than five dozen veteran Indiana jurists were recertified this week to serve as senior judges in Indiana trial and appellate courts next year.

The Indiana Supreme Court’s Tuesday order recertified as senior judges former Indiana Chief Justice Randall Shepard, retired Justice Robert Rucker and former appellate jurists Michael Barnes, Betty Barteau and Carr Darden. Dozens of longtime Indiana trial court judges also were recertified to carry out the functions of senior judges enumerated under Indiana Code § 33-27-4-1 in 2020.

The order came after the justices issued orders Monday certifying four new senior judges. The Indiana Supreme Court also issued an order in October recertifying 29 senior judges.
