The Indiana Supreme Court ordered an emergency interim suspension, effective Sept. 25, for a Hammond attorney.

The order for In the Matter of: Randy Godshalk, 24S-DI-250, was issued Tuesday.

According to the order, the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission  filed an “Amended Verified Petition for Emergency Interim Suspension” and attached exhibits, asking that Godshalk be immediately suspended from the practice of law in Indiana, pending further order or final resolution of any resulting disciplinary action, due to “alleged misconduct that may cause Respondent’s continued practice of law during the pendency of a disciplinary investigation or proceeding to pose a substantial threat of harm to the public, clients, potential clients, or the administration of justice.”

It noted that Godshalk had filed a verified amended answer, memorandum in support, and affidavit urging that the interim suspension request be denied or, alternatively, referred to a hearing officer.

Chief Justice Loretta Rush signed the order, with all justices concurring.

The suspension will continue until further order of the court or final resolution of any resulting disciplinary action.

According to the Indiana Roll of Attorneys, Godshalk had one other disciplinary action filed against him.

MyCase court records showed the court and Godshalk agreed in 2013 on a settlement in that case, with the attorney receiving a public reprimand for misconduct.
