The Indiana Supreme Court will be hitting the road in October for an oral argument involving a liability lawsuit filed against against Indiana University’s board of trustees.

The justices will be at South Newton High School on Oct. 1 to hear arguments on Kiera Isgrig v. Trustees of Indiana University, 24S-CT-158.

According to court records, Kiera Isgrig claims that she was injured when a window at Indiana University’s Swain Hall fell on her head while she was sitting at a table studying.

She sued IU for negligence. The Monroe Circuit Court granted summary judgment to the university, but the Indiana Court of Appeals reversed.

Now, the high court is reviewing the case.

The 40-minute argument is being held in Justice Derek Molter’s home county, at the high school he attended.

The argument will take place in South Newton High School’s Main Gym at 13102 South 50 East, in Kentland at 9:30 a.m. CST.

It is open to the public and available seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Those interested in attending will be required to enter through door 4 from the main parking lot and go through security. Parking for guests is available in the main school parking lot to the east of the school.

More than 700 students from the following schools are scheduled to attend:

  • Benton Central Jr-Sr High School
  • Frontier Jr-Sr High School
  • North Newton Jr-Sr High School
  • North White High School
  • South Newton Senior High School
  • Tri-County Jr/Sr High School
  • Twin Lakes Senior High School

The argument will be webcast live and archived on the court’s website.
