The Indianapolis Professional Association’s fall networking event this month will focus on leadership development and mentoring.

The event is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Oct. 27 at The District Tap, 3720 E. 82nd St., Indianapolis.

The event — with a theme of “Leadership Development with Mentoring from Different Perspectives” — will feature a panel of civic leaders. There will also be music, food, prizes and raffles.

Panelists are Rev. Malachi Walker, founder of Young Men Inc.; Dennis Bland, president of the Center for Leadership Development; Jackie Lai Sr., director of community engagement & JEDI initiatives at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana; Mariana Lopez-Owens, director of education programs at La Plaza Inc.; and Anthony Williamson, Indianapolis Fire Department battalion chief and executive director of the St. Florian Center.

The panel will be moderated by Pamela Ross, vice of president of community leadership and equitable initiatives at the Indianapolis Foundation, which is part of the Central Indiana Community Foundation.

Individual admission is $30 through Friday and rises to $35 after. Registration is open online.

The Indianapolis Professional Association was founded in 1984 by six attorneys and a judge who were members of the Marion County Bar Association, which is comprised mostly of African American attorneys.
