An attorney with the Marion County Public Defender Agency has been charged with 11 felonies for allegedly soliciting nude photos from underage girls.

Guillermo Yanez, 23, has been charged with crimes that include vicarious sexual gratification with a minor under 14, child exploitation, dissemination of matter harmful to minors and child solicitation.

According to a probable cause affidavit, an ex-girlfriend alerted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children of conversations Yanez was having with minors on Instagram, Discord and Snapchat.

The sexually explicit conversations date back to 2022 with minors as young as 11, the affidavit says.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Master Detective Jason Zotz submitted a search warrant request on Feb. 4 for Yanez’s home, car, and any portable devices.

Yanez, who was admitted to the Indiana bar in October, was stopped by Zotz on Feb. 10 and was taken in for an interview. He declined to speak to the detectives. Yanez’s cell phone was taken to IMPD Digital Forensics Unit for examination.

After an initial court hearing, Yanez was released from jail on a $7,500 bond.

The Marion County Public Defender Agency and Yanez’s attorney, Benjamin Jaffe with Eskew Law LLC, did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

A pretrial conference hearing has been scheduled for April 8 at 1 p.m. and a jury trial at 8:30 a.m. on April 23.

The case is State of Indiana v. Guillermo Yanez, 49D32-2502-F4-004925.
