As 2023 draws to a close, our inboxes suddenly receive a flurry of year-end reminders. Whether it’s an invitation to an after-hours holiday party, directives for collecting earned fees before the end of the fiscal year, or a panic-inducing admonition that you have not satisfied your yearly CLE requirements, this time of year can be extremely stressful. It also makes it difficult to find time to reflect, even momentarily, on the elements of gratitude, fellowship and generosity traditionally associated with our national Turkey Day and the upcoming holiday season. Instead, it’s much easier to daydream of a coveted end-of-the-year trip to a location that lacks Wi-Fi.
Fortunately for you, the IndyBar Foundation has created a stress-free way for you to generously support your community while simultaneously planning your next vacation. Beginning at 10 a.m. on Nov. 21, the IndyBar Foundation will be hosting its annual IndyBar’s Giving Online Auction. This event, which runs through 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 27, allows you to get a jump on your holiday shopping while supporting the IndyBar Foundation. This year’s inventory includes unique items from local businesses, several curated experiences (including threesomes at various private golf courses), and vacation packages for The Great Smokey Mountains, New Buffalo, Michigan, French Lick Springs Resort and Casino, and more.
The bidding for these items will be competitive! To make sure you have a chance to place the winning bid, please visit givergy.us/indybarsgiving2023 to peruse the items up for auction and to place your bid. If you are lucky enough to secure your chosen prize, you can then elect to personally pick it up from the Indianapolis Bar Association’s Headquarters (conveniently located at 140 N. Illinois St.) or have it delivered to your office by a friendly and prompt IndyBar volunteer.
The proceeds generated by this online auction will be allocated to the more than $100,000 in annual programming and projects supported by the IndyBar Foundation. These projects include service to the community such as Ask a Lawyer, Legal Lines and our Virtual Help Desk, as well as Constitution books and voter registration information provided to newly naturalized citizens. The IndyBar Foundation also provides service to the profession such as the Diversity Job Fair, professionalism initiatives and the ‘‘Commonly Asked Questions about Indiana Law’’ book. Additionally, the IBF helps provide educational initiatives for law students and attorneys alike, such as providing support for the Bench Bar Conference, web-based access to Bar Review and support for distance legal education.
If you would like any additional information on IndyBar’s Giving, please don’t hesitate to contact Josh Timmons at 317- 675-8270. Thank you for your support of the IndyBar Foundation and good luck in the auction!•
