By Hon. James J. Joven

The IndyBar Litigation Section is sponsoring two more installments of its recurring ‘Lunch with the Bench’ series. Southern District of Indiana Magistrate Judge Kellie Barr will host the first lunch on August 22, 2024, and Southern District Magistrate Judge Kendra Klump’s presentation will follow on September 4, 2024. Both events will take place from noon until 1 p.m. at the Birch Bayh Federal Building & U.S. Courthouse, 46 East Ohio Street, Indianapolis.

Each magistrate will share invaluable advice for appearing in their courtrooms, including specific procedures, practices, and preferences. The magistrates will also set forth general expectations for attorneys practicing in federal court. Judge Barr and Judge Klump will also share information about their career paths and what brought them to the federal bench.

The IndyBar Litigation Section regularly invites Indianapolis-area judges to participate in the ‘Lunch with the Bench’ series. Recent presenters include federal Magistrate Judge Mario Garcia and former Marion Circuit Court Judge Tiffany Vivo. Future presenters will likely include some of the recent additions to the Civil Term of the Marion Superior Court and other Judges in Central Indiana.

Seating for each presentation is limited, so please register to reserve your seat! Lunch is “bring your own” but you must purchase your drink onsite – drinks from outside the courthouse are not permitted. To register for the Judge Barr event, visit www.indybar.org/barr. For registration to the Judge Klump event, head to www.indybar.org/klump.•
