Members of the bench and the bar gathered at the Community Justice Center for the robing ceremony for the Hon. Tricia Caress McMath on August 22, 2024.

The event was an impressive display with opening remarks delivered by the Hon. Tim Oakes. In his remarks, he expressed how Judge McMath was the defining example of “Q.E. – Quiet Excellence” – Judge Oakes’ term for those citizens and public servants who consistently seek to make, and achieve, a significant positive impact on their organizations regardless of title or recognition. He noted Judge McMath’s considerable academic and professional accomplishments, observing also that the truly great judges are often great human beings first. “They care about others, about missions, about family, about leaving a place a little better than they found it, again, without concern for titles or accolades. Thank you Judge McMath for modeling for us what it means to be a beautiful soul, in short, Q.E.”

A ceremonial oath was then administered by the Hon. P.J. Dietrick, followed by the robing of Judge McMath by members of her family. In her address to the crowd Judge McMath shared, “I have been working here as a Magistrate long enough to know that the Marion Superior Court just has some really fabulous people – not only judges, but magistrates and staff in particular.  So, it is such an honor for me to now be among the appointed and elected judges of the Marion Superior Court”•
