Do you have a family law case you believe could be resolved via mediation? Do you have a family law case where mediation will most likely be successful, but the parties are not able to afford the cost of a private mediator? Do you have a desire, as a domestic relations mediator, to give back to the legal community through a volunteer opportunity? If any of the above apply to you, then you are in luck!! After an undeniable 74% success rate on resolution of mediated cases at the 2023 event, the Family Law Section of IndyBar is once again partnering with the Marion County Courts for a Summer Mediation Day.

We will hold our Summer Mediation Day on August 9, 2024 at the Community Justice Center. It is our plan to mediate 30 cases with the goal of freeing up much needed space on the family law docket. To accomplish this goal, we are actively searching for mediators to volunteer to mediate one or more cases. IndyBar will provide lunch (and sing your praises at the top of our lungs as a thank you). The ideal case will be a DR, DC, DN or JP case with relatively straightforward asset/debt issues and/or custody, parenting time matters or cases involving child support and/or post-secondary education expenses. Additionally, the combined household incomes of the parties should not exceed $100,000 for assignment. If you have a case that fits these parameters, you can submit a case for consideration on the registration page linked below.

IndyBar and the Family Law Division of the Marion County Courts recognize that your time is valuable. We appreciate and thank you for your willingness to help free up some much-needed docket space while also giving back to the community in a meaningful way. Mediators should bring their own laptops for drafting, but support staff will be on-site to assist with printing drafts, final agreements, and making copies. We are certain it will be another great event. Please visit www.indybar.org/mediationday to sign up by July 31, 2024 to volunteer as a mediator. If you are intrigued by the aspect of volunteering for mediation day but find yourself unavailable on August 9, save the date for our Fall Mediation Day on November 22, 2024.•
