Effective immediately, attorney members in practice eight or fewer years pay just $20 per credit hour at any one of the IndyBar’s more than 150 CLE programs held annually.
The IndyBar Board of Directors approved implementation of the new and reduced rate prior to the start of 2020. IndyBar President Andy Campbell says that with this new rate, the Board of Directors hopes to ensure that new lawyers get consistent access to affordable legal education.
“The IndyBar recognizes and appreciates that new lawyers have a diverse range of opportunities and commitments that may infringe on their ability to access high quality, low-cost legal education,” Campbell said. “But, perhaps more importantly, the IndyBar wants to give young lawyers access to the network of more senior lawyers that will open doors, refer business and mentor new lawyers entering the profession.”
IndyBar Young Lawyers Division (YLD) chair Stephanie McGowan hopes the reduced rate will encourage even more new lawyers from Indianapolis and beyond to take part in YLD events, which are specifically tailored to newer professionals.
“You get one hour of CLE for $20, and we specifically offer programs for new lawyers with topics that are actually interesting and fun for new lawyers outside of what you generally see in your day-to-day practice, like sports betting and distillery law,” McGowan said.
