By Bryssa Helton, IndyBar Marketing & Communications Director

From impactful grant programs to important volunteer opportunities to exciting community-building events, the IndyBar Foundation provides members and friends of IndyBar countless ways to give back to the community. The foundation was created in 1968 to provide support to central Indiana families of limited means experiencing legal problems and to help support law students and young lawyers as they embark on their careers. Since then, the foundation has granted more than $2.5 million in support of educational, cultural, character-building, and community service organizations. The foundation’s ongoing grants and programs are maintained solely through the generosity and energy of its directors, fellows, and donors.

The IndyBar Foundation is a direct representation of the care association members, like you, have for our community. Many of you attended foundation events throughout 2024. Thank you for your support! If you’re one of those who found that the calendar just didn’t line up for you to join us at the Talent Show, Block Party, Trivia Nights, the Golf Outing, our Annual Gala, the Indiana Fever VIP Experience Event, or any other foundation fundraiser, this is your time! Here are the ways you can continue to support the IndyBar Foundation as we near the end of 2024:

  1. Visit www.indyba rfoundation.org and click on the “Donate Today” button in the top right corner of the screen and donate!
  2. Are you a young lawyer or law student? Become a member of the 1968 Club with a one-time nominal donation of $19.68 through the link above.
  3. Volunteer your time for a foundation-supported program. Choose from IndyBar-organized programs like the free wills clinic and the online help desk or partner programs from previous Community Empowerment Grant recipients. Email Kari Hartman at [email protected] for ways to get involved.
  4. Share the IndyBar Foundation with your social networks! Craft your own post and link to www.indybarfoundation.org or share one of our most recent posts from our social channels to your feed and help spread the word about the foundation’s good work.
  5. As part of your estate planning, make a planned gift to the IndyBar Foundation. For more information, visit www.indybarfoundation.org/planned-giving.
  6. Level Up your gifts! If you’ve donated to the foundation already this year, you’ll get a notice shortly with what level of gifting you’re currently at and what it would take for you to hit the next level of notoriety. Contact Julie Armstrong at [email protected] for more details.

Without your support the IndyBar Foundation isn’t able to create continuously lasting impact. You make it possible for the foundation to advance justice and lead positive change in Indianapolis through philanthropy, education, and service. Visit www.indybarfoundation.org to learn more about the IndyBar Foundation, what the organization does for our community, and the various ways you can support.
