Interviews and a vote will take place over three days starting Monday to fill vacancies that will be created by the end-of-year retirement of Marion Superior judges Barbara Crawford, David Dreyer and Marilyn Moores. The application process for the vacancies was initially announced in February with subsequent scheduling adjustments due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The interviews are open to the public and will take place in the FUSE Conference Center on the second floor of the South Tower at Capital Center, 251 N. Illinois St., Indianapolis.
The interviews will conclude on Wednesday and a public vote will be held after the final executive session. Committee recommendations will then be announced on the committee website and twitter.com/incourts. Recommendations of finalists will be sent to Gov. Eric Holcomb, who makes the final selection on filling the vacancies.
The full schedule is online and adjustments may be made throughout the day. Limited seating will be available and appropriate social distancing measures will be in place. Attendees must:
• Refrain from activities that might distract from the interview process.
• Refrain from questioning applicants, which is reserved for the committee.
• Enter and exit the room only between interviews.
• Set up audio/video recording equipment before or between interviews.
• Refrain from using artificial lighting.
Media and the public may interview applicants before or after Committee interviews outside the room at the applicant’s discretion.
The 14-member Committee was established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2017 and is chaired by Indiana Supreme Court Justice Mark Massa and Vice-Chair Court of Appeals of Indiana Chief Judge Cale Bradford.
