The Indianapolis law school has signed a memorandum of understanding with Université Toulouse-1 Capitole to formalize their working relationship, according to a Jan. 26 news release. The MOU was signed in Indianapolis by IU McKinney Dean Karen Bravo and Université of Toulouse President Hugues Kenfack.
According to IU McKinney, Bravo is a proponent of growing the school’s international relationships to attract students and scholars and create opportunities for students and faculty.
“I’m delighted that IU McKinney has formalized its relationship with Université Toulouse-1 Capitole,” Bravo said in a news release. “I look forward to the opportunities this partnership will bring for our students and faculty.”
The French university, located in the city of Toulouse, hosted an IU McKinney faculty delegation in 2022, according to the law school. IU McKinney Vice Dean Max Huffman has led the effort to develop the relationship.
“UTC is the perfect mix of, on the one hand, a welcoming environment for students and faculty, and on the other hand, a world-renowned university conducting cutting edge research,” Huffman said in the news release. “It’s student-centric focus and desire for international collaboration makes UTC an ideal partner for pursuing a long-term collaboration.”
Also present at the signing of the MOU were Dean Ash Soni and Executive Vice Dean Julie Magid from the IU Kelley School of Business; Leslie Bozeman of the IU Office of International Affairs; IU McKinney Associate Dean Tom Wilson; Professor and former Indiana Supreme Court Justice Frank Sullivan; Professor Aila Hoss; and IU McKinney staff leaders “who were instrumental in planning the event and strategizing future collaborations.”
