Senior Judge Thomas L. Clem has been appointed judge pro tempore of the Hamilton Circuit Court, the Indiana Supreme Court announced Thursday.
Clem will be temporarily replacing Judge Paul Felix, who was appointed to the Court of Appeals of Indiana this month. Felix has notified the Supreme Court that he intends to begin his service for the appellate court on July 31, the same day Clem will take over as judge pro tem.
Felix fills the vacancy left by the recently retired Senior Judge Margret Robb. He had been judge of the Hamilton Circuit Court since 2009.
Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb is currently accepting applications for Felix’s permanent successor.
Clem will be entitled to compensation for his service, paid by the state, computed at the same rate as the regular judge commencing from the effective date of his appointment, pursuant to Trial Rule 63(D), according to the Supreme Court order.
Clem will remain judge pro tempore until further order of the court.
Clem previously served as judge of the Madison Circuit Court and was certified as a senior judge by in October 2020.
