This year marks the 236th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution.
In 2004, Sen. Robert C. Byrd of West Virginia sponsored legislation designating Sept. 17 of each year as Constitution Day and requiring public schools and government offices to provide educational programs to promote a better understanding of the Constitution.
According to the Indiana Supreme Court, 46 judicial officers from across the state will meet with nearly 3,500 students and civic group members to celebrate Constitution Day in September.
