Three new judges pro tempore have been appointed to fill vacancies across the state.
Those judges were appointed to courts in Marion, Montgomery and Warrick counties.
In Marion County, Senior Judge Jane S. Craney will serve as judge pro tem in Marion Superior Court, Criminal Division 28, following the death last month of Judge Shatrese M. Flowers.
Craney started her role as judge pro tem on Wednesday and will continue until further order of the court.
The Marion County Judicial Selection Committee is holding interviews this month to find Flowers’ permanent replacement, as well as a replacement for retiring Judge Heather Welch.
In Montgomery County, Judge Heather L. Barajas of Montgomery Superior Court 1 will be taking a medical leave of absence effective Dec. 11. Senior Judge John Baker will serve as judge pro tem in her stead beginning on the same date and effective until further order of the court.
And in Warrick County, Senior Judge Robert Aylsworth will serve as judge pro tem of Warrick Superior Court 2 while Judge Amy Steinkamp Miskimen takes a medical leave of absence.
Aylsworth will begin serving as judge pro tem on Jan. 4, 2024, and will continue until further order of the court.
