Jason C. Custer

Gov. Eric Holcomb appointed Allen County Magistrate Jason Custer to serve as judge of the Allen Superior Court Civil Division Tuesday.

Custer has served as magistrate in the superior court’s misdemeanor and traffic division since 2016.

He is succeeding Judge David Avery who is in December after 24 years on the bench. Custer will serve the remainder of Avery’s term, which ends on Dec. 31, 2028.

I am really just honored to have been considered alongside such strong candidates and am humbled to be appointed by Governor Holcomb who has been a terrific steward of Indiana. Judge Avery served the citizens of Allen County brilliantly. I hope to continue the goodwill in the judiciary that Judge Avery engendered,” Custer said.

Custer was among the three finalists selected by the Allen County Judicial Nominating Commission.

The commission interviewed six candidates in September. Magistrate Judges Brian Cook and Michael Douglass were other finalists.
