A Muncie woman faces 10 felony charges for a January incident when she allegedly refused to stop for police and crashed her car into another vehicle, which resulted in the death of a passenger and the unborn fetus of a woman driving the car.

Delaware County Prosecuting Attorney Eric Hoffman announced the charges in a news release Wednesday.

Olivia LaRue, 40, has been charged with resisting law enforcement resulting in death, OWI resulting in death, DWS resulting in death, involuntary manslaughter, OWI causing serious bodily injury, resisting law enforcement resulting in serious bodily injury, DWS resulting in serious bodily injury, unlawful carrying of a handgun, possession of cocaine and resisting law enforcement with the use of a vehicle.

The charges are pending in the Delaware Circuit Court No. 3

In September 2022, LaRue was arrested for two felony counts of dealing in cocaine, possession of a controlled substance and failure to appear.

Madison County law enforcement arrested LaRue for additional charges in August 2023, with the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office charging LaRue with dealing in cocaine, dealing in a narcotic drug and identity deception.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Muncie police attempted in January to serve an outstanding arrest warrant on LaRue. LaRue fled from police, which resulted in a crash.

LaRue’s vehicle crashed into an Acura driven by Acacia Hammond. Hammond sustained critical injuries in the crash and her passenger, Javonta Jones, died from injuries.

Also, Hammond was 16 weeks pregnant at the time of the crash and lost her unborn fetus as a result of her injuries.

LaRue was driving with a suspended license at the time of the crash.
