The Allen Superior Court will host a swearing-in ceremony for incoming Judge Andrew S. Williams this week as he succeeds retiring judge Nancy Eshcoff Boyer.

The ceremony will take place at 3:30 p.m. Friday on the Allen County Courthouse Green, weather permitting, in order to maintain social distancing, the court said.

Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb last month appointed Williams, formerly a partner with the Fort Wayne law firm of Hunt Suedhoff Kalamaros, to fill a vacancy on the Allen Superior Court bench left by Boyer. The retiring judge was the first woman to serve on the state trial court bench in Fort Wayne.

Holcomb’s choice for the judgeship was selected from among three finalists chosen by the Allen County Judicial Nominating Commission, who also nominated attorney David Bailey and Magistrate Judge Brian Cook.
