The Indiana State Bar Association Diversity Committee is accepting nominations for the 2022 Rabb Emison Awards.

The Rabb Emison Awards, named in honor of a former ISBA president, honor the diversity, equity and inclusion work occurring in the legal community around the state.

According to the ISBA, nominees are “leaders in diversity and equality, whether that be through mentorship, through education in their communities and/or workplaces, or through the creation and support of professional development opportunities for marginalized lawyers.” Awards are given to both individuals and organizations.

The ISBA describes past award winners as having “expanded professional development opportunities for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and people of color) attorneys, promoted education on diversity and equity, and been dedicated mentors in their communities.”

Nominations should include the nominee’s position and contact information, or the information for a contact at the organization, as well as a brief bio and an explanation for why they’re being nominated. Letters of recommendation may be submitted at the end of the application.

The nomination form and a full list of past winners are available on the ISBA website. The deadline for nominations is May 9.
