Stephanie J. Reagan v. State of Indiana
20A-CR-907
Criminal. Majority affirms Stephanie Reagan’s conviction of Level 6 felony possession of cocaine and Class C misdemeanor possession of marijuana based on evidence obtained in part by a strip search as she was being processed in the Marion County Jail. Judge Leanna Weissmann dissents and would find the state failed to prove the strip search was reasonable under Article I, Section 11 of the Indiana Constitution. She would reverse the judgment based on the admission of the evidence and remand for proceedings.
Matthew J. Goode v. State of Indiana (mem. dec.)
20A-CR-374
Criminal. Affirms Matthew Goode’s conviction of Level 3 felony resisting law enforcement in a vehicle resulting in death, finding the Marion Superior Court did not commit fundamental error in instructing the jury.
John Wesley Ewing v. State of Indiana (mem. dec.)
19A-CR-3023
Criminal. Affirms John Ewing’s conviction of Level 2 felony dealing a narcotic drug. Finds the Grant Superior Court did not abuse its discretion in admitting evidence discovered pursuant to a search warrant and that the evidence is sufficient to support the conviction.
Louis H. Howard, Jr. v. State of Indiana (mem. dec.)
19A-CR-3063
Affirms Louis Howard Jr.’s conviction of Level 6 felony counts of possession of cocaine and obstruction of justice, Class A misdemeanor possession of marijuana and his adjudication as a habitual offender. Finds the Wells Superior Court did not abuse its discretion by denying Howard’s motion to dismiss, motion to continue, or motion to disqualify and did not err when precluding Howard from pleading guilty without counsel.
