The Indiana Supreme Court appointed a Judge Pro Tempore in Porter County Tuesday as superior court Judge Michael A. Fish is being deployed for military service.

Senior Judge David P. Matsey will begin serving on the Porter Superior Court 1 bench on Sept. 16.

Fish is a staff judge advocate for the 38th Infantry Division of the Indiana Army National Guard.

The Valparaiso University School of Law graduate joined the Porter Superior Court bench in January 2021.

Matsey previously served on the Starke Circuit Court bench from 1992 to 2004. He has been a senior judge since 2005.

He will fill Fish’s role until he is able to return from service.
