And, in keeping with the honored tradition of working inside the Beltway, everything is off the record.
The event, “Off the Record: Hoosiers in the White House,” will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 22 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom.
Three Indiana residents who have worked in the executive branch will provide their perspectives on American democracy shaped by their experiences at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
The speakers are:
- David Slade, chief development and marketing officer at WFYI Public Media, who served as associate director of scheduling and advance for Vice President Al Gore and, prior to that, was a public affairs specialist in the U.S. Department of Justice under Attorney General Janet Reno.
- Andrea Richter-Garry, vice president of international engagement at the Indiana Economic Development Corp., who held the role of advance lead to President Barack Obama, leading teams to prepare logistical, security and communications aspects when the president traveled.
- Peter Rusthoven, partner at Barnes & Thornburg LLP, who was associate counsel to President Ronald Reagan from 1981 to 1985 and in 1986 served as counsel to the Presidential Commission on the Space Shuttle Challenger Accident.
