Taft will partner with Maryland-based SkillBurst Interactive to launch a training series on generative artificial intelligence for lawyers and other professionals, the firm announced Tuesday.
The program will include training related to privacy and security concerns, implications of data bias, ethical considerations, liability and accountability, and skills for interdisciplinary work with data scientists and IT professionals.
“We want to embrace generative AI in a responsible and thoughtful way,” Lyndsay Capeder, Taft’s chief client and innovation officer, said in a statement. “Working within this consortium aligns with Taft’s holistic and collaborative innovation strategy and enables us to help pioneer a standard for utilizing generative AI in the most effective way that prioritizes protecting our clients and our firm.”
Taft said in its announcement it participated in a legal consortium with SkillBurst, other law firms and technology experts to create training content focused on the safe and ethical use of generative AI in the practice of law.
“The need for this content is crucial as the legal landscape continues to evolve with new technologies available to us,” Bob Hicks, Taft’s chairman and managing partner, said in a statement. “This valuable resource will equip Taft attorneys, paralegals, and other professional staff with the education and training we need to continue our commitment to being the modern law firm and legacy of exemplary client service.”
Law firms and the legal community as a whole have shown a greater interest in AI, with the Indiana State Bar Association launching a yearlong AI series at its Annual Summit last week.
