Parr Richey Partner Anthony Patterson’s term is expiring at the end of this year, creating the vacancy.
Attorneys casted their votes via email ballot and elected Steve Williams of Williams Law Firm in Terre Haute as a new commission member.
Williams focuses his practice on personal injury and business litigation.
He will begin his three year term on Jan. 1, 2025.
The commission reviews applications, interviews and selects candidates for Indiana’s governor to appoint to the Indiana Supreme Court and Indiana Court of Appeals.
The other candidates included: Larry Church, founding partner of Church, Langdon, Lopp and Banet Law LLC in New Albany; David Nelson Powell, former senior council at the Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council; and Senior Judge G. Mike Witte of Nineveh.
Commission member Danny Lopez’s term also expires at the end of this year. His position on the commission is appointed by the governor.
Lopez was elected to the state House of Representatives last week and will be joining the Indiana General Assembly in January.
